The BIIF’s Kamehameha and Waiakea each won Thursday at the 23rd annual Stanley Costales Sr. Memorial Baseball Tournament at Wong Stadium, but host Hilo, Kealakehe and Konawaena weren’t as lucky.

The BIIF’s Kamehameha and Waiakea each won Thursday at the 23rd annual Stanley Costales Sr. Memorial Baseball Tournament at Wong Stadium, but host Hilo, Kealakehe and Konawaena weren’t as lucky.

Kamehameha beat the Waveriders 12-2 and will face Pac-5 in the semifinals at 7 p.m Friday. Pac-5 edged Hilo 3-2 in the nightcap Thursday. An 8-0 winner against Leilehua, Waiakea gets ready for a 4:30 p.m. semifinal against Kamehameha-Maui, which opened the first round with a 10-1 win against Konawaena.

The first of five games Friday begins at 9 a.m., with Hawaii Prep set to play its first game of the tournament at 11:30 a.m.
